Research overview
DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a nonapeptide first isolated in 1977 from the blood of rabbits during induced sleep. Despite its name and decades of study, its receptor and full mechanism remain unresolved, which keeps it an open research question.
It is used in studies of sleep architecture, stress-hormone regulation and neuroendocrine signaling. Researchers often study it with other neuropeptides such as Selank and Semax, and in circadian work with Epitalon.
Storage and handling
